Camouflage: Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is FaceAway™ reusable?
No. While FaceAway™ will retain some adhesive when removed, it can not generally be reused. However, each package of FaceAway™ full face or FaceAway™ strips contains enough pieces to last 4-6 hunts.
2. Will FaceAway™ stay on if I sweat?
Yes. Your face should be dry when you apply FaceAway™, but once it is it on will not come off when you sweat. This is because FaceAway™ is breathable and therefore allows moisture to pass through the tape. You can even shower with it on.
3. Does ThinSkin™ leave adhesive residue?
It depends on the surface to which it is applied. On many surfaces it comes off with little or no residue. If you want to remove ThinSkin, test a small area first to see whether it will leave a residue. If it does, we recommend ”Mostenbocker’s Lift Off #2”. For best results, apply it to the tape before removal and allow it to saturate the tape for at least a minute. Lift Off #2 makes easy work of the removal and is gentle on virtually all surfaces, even wooden gun stocks. It is available at most home improvement stores and will soon be available on our website.
4. Is ThinSkin™ waterproof?
Since ThinSkin™ is breathable it allows water to evaporate rather than get trapped under the tape. If your gear gets wet, the tape will dry and not leave trapped moisture. This is why ThinSkin™ retards rust.
5. How much ThinSkin™ does it take to camouflage a gun?
Depending on how much of the gun you want to camouflage, it will take from 6-10 sheets. There are 12 sheets in a package, which is enough to camouflage an entire gun and still leave some left over for a scope or other small gear.
6. How durable is ThinSkin™ and how long will it stay on my gear?
ThinSkin™ will stay on your equipment for months, or even years. Depending on your usage, you may occasionally notice small tears in the tape. These can easily be patched with a small piece of ThinSkin™
7. I’m not sure what pattern to choose. Any suggestions?
Generally, the Realtree Hardwoods and Hardwoods Green and the Mossy Oak Break Up are best for woodland areas while the Mossy Oak Shadow Grass and Realtree Max 4 are better for waterfowl hunting in marshy areas. Mossy Oak Obsession is somewhat lighter than Break Up and can be used in both woodland and non-woodland environments. If you are hunting in the early fall or late spring, Realtree Hardwoods Green or Mossy Oak Break Up will show more green. The Montana Camo patterns are best for the western United States.
